The End of Year Contest | Vote for your favorite photo here!

I am so excited to post this! I've thought long and hard about what kind of contest I wanted to do since I've never really done one before. As 2010 comes to a close, I loved the idea of looking back on all of the wonderful people that I've been able to photograph. As I was preparing the images I was able to watch myself grow as a photographer and I was reminded of all of the great memories from each and every session. The photos here represent ONE image from each individual session that I did in 2010. It was nearly impossible to choose only one photo per session, but I went with my gut and chose my personal favorite. What a wonderful year! I photographed weddings, engagements, families, seniors, maternity, kids, toddlers, newborns, baptisms, boudoir, sports teams, couples, twins (4 sets of them!), and basically, I feel like the luckiest photographer on the planet :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! HOW IT WORKS:

The fine print: Bre Thurston Photography reserves the right to make a change to the contest at any time, at her discression. If you had a session with me in 2010 and do not see one of your photos represented here, please contact me ASAP at bre@brethurston.com. Participants may not ask Bre Thurston Photography to change the photo that she has chosen to represent their session. You may notice that certain people are represented more than once. That is because they had multiple sessions with me this year. I included one photo per session. Lastly, have fun and thanks for participating in my contest!

Change is good!

Every now and then I get the itch to do something drastic. In the past, it has come in the form of a naval piercing and a tattoo (okay, two of them...) but this time a little birdie told me that it would be a good idea to chop off my long hair. I have been growing my hair for nearly 5 years. I did a drastic short cut just before my husband proposed to me and oh boy, did I miss that long hair for my wedding day. I swore "never again". Well, typical to my overall outlook on life, I decided to just do it. Why not? So what if I prefer my hair long? Change is good. Change is healthy. Change keeps you vibrant. Besides, it will grow back eventually...right? So, on Friday, I did it. Buh-bye long hair!

Happy Sunday, and three cheers for stepping outside of the box. Jump out of a plane. Move accross the country. Cut your hair!

Pamela & David - An Autumn Wedding in Winters, CA!

Sometimes you meet people that you feel instantly comfortable around. Pamela and Dave were those people. When they chose me to photograph their intimate wedding in Winters, I knew we would be a wonderful fit. They said their vows under a large gazebo with the beautiful evening light shining through the beams. Photographers love nothing more than beautiful light so I was giddy with excitement by the time that Pamela walked down the aisle with her dad on her side. After the ceremony, we walked along the streets of the small town and casually took photos. Pamela was wonderful at communicating with me her wants and desires for her wedding photos which made my job simple and enjoyable. Around 6:15 we entered the beautiful banquet room of the Buckhorn Steakhouse. The room was beautiful, welcoming and I loved being able to photograph with the available light, giving the photographs an authentic feel. I also want to thank Pam & Dave for a small gesture that while yes, was small, but spoke greatly of their character - Pam emailed me and asked what I would like for dinner. I declined, knowing that I would have time to grab a bite before I started, but joked that I would take an iced tea. As I was milling around taking photos, a member of the wait staff handed me a perfect plate with sugars, a spoon, and a glass of iced tea. Just for me. Congratulations Pamela & David. And thank you...for the tea and for everything!
