The Woodward Family | San Juan Capistrano Photographer

There is something special about Southern California. Having lived in the Sacramento area my whole life, having an 85 degree day in early March (and January and February too...) is a trip. I love the warmth and the sun and how it makes for beautiful photos. We were actually all sweating during this session, but it was oh-so-worth it. San Jaun Capistrano is known for it's yellow flower field in the spring months. It really is beautiful, just like Jenny and her boys!

Beauty in the Desert | Southern California Boudoir Photographer

Let's call her...."A". "A" wanted a boudoir session for her husband. Originally, we were thinking that we would do it in our hotel room while we were staying in Las Vegas for WPPI (a huge convention for us photography nerds). However, the room was pretty dark and left something to be desired. My good friend and fellow photographer Chloe Ramirez of Chloe Photography suggested that we head to an outdoor location. We decided to shoot "A's" boudoir session together - both Chloe and I have similar styles and similar visions, so I think both of us were pretty excited to work together. For those of us from Southern California (myself) and Seattle (Chloe), the Las Vegas desert is a magical, unique place to shoot. This was Chloe's first time in Las Vegas and my 2nd time, and neither of us had ever been off the strip. We Googled a location and off the three of us went in my rental car! We felt like lost city girls but as soon as we found the right light and the right location, we both got lost in the session. "A" is not a professional model, in fact, she is the mom of a toddler. I like to think that she FELT beautiful as we were shooting, because her beauty came across so naturally and effortlessly. She is a beautiful woman, inside and out, and Chloe and I had a blast posing and directing her. Chloe is a self proclaimed "music snob" with large, pretty tattoos - she brought an edginess to the session that I would not have been able to do alone. I, on the other hand, like to think of myself as a total romantic who's style is soft and flowing, and when I look at our images together, I can see each of our styles shining through.

Make sure to check out Chloe's images on her blog, HERE!

Without further ado...

The Jones Family | Rancho Palos Verdes Family Photographer

Lindsey is a photographer from Southern California, and in fact, I've known her for about 5 years online. We met for the first time in Las Vegas for WPPI just a few days before we had her session scheduled. I photograph quite a few photographers which I don't find odd at all. Lindsey has all of these adorable shots of her boys, but none of her in them. That's all too common among photographers, so it makes sense to have someone else do photos so that you can be a part of the session as well. We shot at a beautiful little park right near the coast in Rancho Palos Verdes. It was a cool, sunny day which I think matched Lindsey's own style - she seems to love things that are warm and soft, just like me! Together she and her boys read books, played with some vintage cameras, laughed, tickled, snuggled, and even flew a kite for the first time. There was a time when a session with two toddlers would have terrified me, and now I am proud to say that together I move through these sessions fairly easily, because when you allow the kids to just be themselves, everything becomes simple and the photos more natural. It helps that Lindsey's little guys were very well behaved! Enjoy! :)

Zane took a little spill in the grass. Good thing Daddy was there to brush the grass out of his mouth :) This is what being a 3 year old boy is all about!
