Aura and Justin are expecting their first baby, a boy, in April. Aura is a fellow photographer (see her gorgeous work here) here in the Seattle area. Although I've only lived here for a handful of months, I am so thankful for all of the wonderful peers that I've been able to meet. The talent of photographers in Seattle is mind blowing and I am honored when they ask me to do work for them. Justin and Aura live in Gig Harbor so I drove down to the Tacoma area to meet them for their session. Thanks to the help of one of my other photographer friends we found a wonderful open space to give Aura the warm, soft, "California" style images that I tend to shoot. The sun just barely peeked out at the end of our session despite the fact that the weather folks had called for a clear day. The weather in Seattle is so unpredictable in the spring! I am thankful that it was warm enough for Aura to not freeze wearing her pretty summer dress :)
I hate to say it but these beautiful, sunny, grassy photos of girls in dresses and sandals was NOT taken anywhere near Seattle in March. haha. We went on a quick trip to California a couple of weeks ago where I met up with Logan and Christina for their mini maternity sessions. The three of us went to high school together but haven't seen each other since we graduated (10 years ago...eeek!) Christina is due in July and Logan is due in May - Christina expecting a baby boy and Logan a baby girl! I didn't have a lot of time for sessions on this recent trip to California because unfortunately we were there for a funeral, but I am so happy that we were able to sneak these in. As I sit here in chilly Seattle (cloudy and 50 degrees) I can't help but miss my home state. Ah, but don't worry, when California is brown, dry, and 100+ degrees all summer Seattle will be lush, green, and in the high 70's. I can't wait :) I don't find myself shooting a lot of maternity since I don't shoot newborns (unless you want a lifestyle session in your home!) but I LOVE shooting maternity and am excited to have a few more coming up in the Seattle area this spring.
