Happy Mother's Day!

To all of the mothers out there- I hope your day is filled with breakfasts in bed, homemade gifts, massages, beautiful cards, flowers, extra love and lots of spoiling today. You deserve it. WE deserve it. Look at your beautiful babies and significant others and remember how blessed you are. Yes, today we are celebrating us, but what would we be without them? I want to thank my amazing husband for giving me the most wonderful, sweet and precious little boy on the face of the earth. I want to thank both of them for loving me unconditionally and making each of my days filled with love and joy. Sure, today I feel a bit old (What?! I'm a MOM?!) but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I also want to thank the women in my life for being my rocks. My mom- my best friend in the entire world and my other half. The woman whom I hope to be and the mother who I will always strive to be. My step-mom for her powerful and truthful love, a love that was not built by blood but instead by choice and desire. To all of the other mom's in my life- you're amazing. You rock. I love you!

Last but not least, I want to wish my beautiful older sister "labor vibes" - my sweet baby niece has taken up shop and is now 4 days overdue. Sis, happy first Mother's Day! I can't wait for you to hold your little girl in your arms and feel the kind of love that I felt when I first held Reid. You are already an amazing mother and I love you!

Tyler and Elyzza | Senior Portraits in Folsom

Okay, how cool is this... I met CJ when we were just 9 year old and kiddos at the same daycare (Country Acres in Carmichael, whoot!) Although we went to different elementary, middle and high schools we have stayed in touch over the years, first through AIM, then Myspace, then Facebook. I hadn't actually seen her in person in 11 years since we were freshman in high school. CJ has always been a sweet, wonderful friend...quite the amazing friend considering our mostly cyberspace relationship. When I got an email from CJ's mom asking me to do her youngest son's senior portraits I was really touched. Apparently CJ, in her typical sweet and generous fashion, shared my photography with her family. I remember her younger brother, Tyler, as an adorable toddler, just 2 or 3 years old! When I saw him in person, well, it made me feel old! :D  Tyler's girlfriend of 2.5 years, Elyzza, also needed her senior portraits done so it really was a two- no, THREE in one session! Tyler's mom requested that his older sister, CJ, be in some of the photos. I don't question why. Tyler and CJ are very close and as a new mom it really made my heart sing to watch their relationships now that they are both adults(ish!) THANK YOU - Thank you to CJ for sharing my work, thank you to Edy for hiring me for your children's photos, thank you to Tyler and Elyzza for being really awesome and gorgeous in front of the camera, and than you to technology for keeping us all in touch!

Sweet Newborn Baby Boy!

This little man was just 5 days old  in these photos. He was a little over 6lbs and the perfect, sleepy little peanut! His older brother was amazing with him and you could literally feel their bond, even after just 5 days of knowing eachother. A special thank you to my friend Kris Lane for coming out with me to capture the last 2 images! She helped me with new poses and let me use her studio lighting set-up! Whoot! I am so grateful to have generous photographer friends who are willing to share their knowledge and help me grow... :)
