Chloe's Birth - Baby Lola

I'm a mother - I have given birth and I know the miracle of life. However, watching someone else experience and being able to witness it from behind a camera is something truly magical. Chloe is the amazing photographer who photographed my family just two months ago. She is a good friend, a beautiful person, and an excellent mother to their 3 1/2 year old daughter, Ella. Chloe's birth with her older daughter was medicated and she knew that she wanted a different birth experience for baby Lola. Along with her two Doulas, her mom, and her amazing husband, Chloe gave birth to Lola naturally in the water at her hospital. Her support team was flawless and watching Chloe birth naturally was an inspiration and the kind of thing that makes me want to pump my fist in the air. As Lola was being born my heart was racing and I was struggling to hold back the tears...all the while a giant smile was plastered on my face. It was one of those times that I had to step outside of myself to see how lucky I am - I got to witness life. Chloe, you're amazing and I'm so proud of you. Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!

For those of you wondering, I do not take on birth "clients" - it's something that I do when I can for people that I know. For Chloe's birth I left the house at 10:45pm and didn't get home until after 4am and that's not something I can do all of the time, especially around a wedding schedule :) There are AMAZING photographers who's main focus is birth photography and if you're pregnant, I can't think of a better investment.

Chloe's Knocked Up! | Seattle Family Photographer

Have you ever met someone and just CLICKED? Last February I went to Las Vegas with my friend Anita. We were rooming with two other girls that Anita knew but whom I had never met before. I was familiar with Chloe's work but had otherwise never spoken to her. The 2nd day of our photography convention (oh yes, that's why we were in Vegas) Anita had a class but Chloe and I did not. I'm a total people person, but even I will sometimes get uneasy if I'm forced to hang out along with someone that I don't really know for a long period of time. Well, Chloe and I walked around, had lunch, and talked like we had known eachother for years. By the end of our 5 day trip, I was nearly in tears at the thought of leaving my friends. At the time I was living in Southern California, Anita was in Sacramento, and Chloe was in Tacoma. Well, having spent the summer in Seattle, I got to spend some time with Chloe again! Since our last trip, we have talked regularly and I even got her to join Clickin Moms where she is a fellow CM Pro. Chloe is pregnant with her 2nd daughter and I am so honored that she had me photograph her maternity session. In fact, tomorrow she is shooting MY family session, so it worked out in a little trade :) Chloe, you're an amazing photographer, a great friend, and I'm so glad to have been introduced to you.

You MUST check out Chloe's amazing work!

As some of you may know, I've spent the summer living in Seattle while my husband had an internship at Amazon. Well, the highlight has been getting to see my sister, niece, and nephew on nearly a daily basis. My niece is a little over 2 years old and my nephew is 3 months old. Over lunch today my sister and I were talking about how amazing it is to be an aunt. Before this summer, I had only seen my niece a handful of times. I loved her, but I didn't really "know" her. Now that I've spent countless hours with both my niece and my sweet baby nephew, something special has happened. I feel a kind of love for them that I can't possibly describe. Well, before the summer ends we knew that we had to get a family session in for my sister. We went to a field behind their house and spend just 30 minutes. You know, we didn't want to wear out Tim (my brother in law) haha. The kids were perfect angels! Kaydriana is a doll, always full of personality and smiles. Oh, and those cheeks! Lake is quite possibly the most mild mannered baby I have ever known. My heart explodes when he smiles and coos - his new favorite tricks!

I love you sis, and I hope you guys like the photos!
